Joseph F. Lamb (1887-1960) was one of the "Big Three" classic ragtime composers along with Scott Joplin (1867-1917) and James Scott (1885-1938). Lamb was a self-taught composer and amateur pianist whose early works were endorsed and highly rated by Scott Joplin (who was 20 years older than Lamb). Only 12 rags were published during Lamb's lifetime (by John Stark) and eventually several more were were posthumously published after 1960. Lamb's style is generally more "individualistic" and "harmonically daring" than Joplin's style.

Spats Langham, banjo solo.
Recorded at the Lord Leicester Hotel, Warwick, UK, 2008.
Thomas "Spats" Langham is one of the finest exponents of classic jazz guitar/banjo playing around today. Born in 1971, Spats was playing ukulele at a very early age. He took up the tenor banjo at the age of 13 with a local band in his native Buxton, Derbyshire, later studying music for two years at college in Manchester. Afterwards he embarked on a career in classic jazz, touring Europe with The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Sammy Rimington and The Charleston Chasers. He subsequently worked with Bob Kerr’s Whoopee Band and performs frequently with the world-renowned master of vintage jazz, Keith Nichols.
